It's actually cleaner and smells less (as in: not at all) than a composting or even regular toilet. This system features cartridges that are changed out between guests, and offer around 20 flushes per stay. This is typically adequate for two guests for two nights, but guests are advised to conserve flushes. In addition, I will be sending info on how to "swap" the cartridge if you run out (I cannot overstate how simple this is to do, promise, it’s done in 30 seconds) Guests will also need to dispose of this on their way out (again: I promise it's easy and NOT MESSY!) - We have a regular staircase that takes you to the memory foam king bed. The reading nook requires climbing and the ladder to the loft solid wood and very secure. If you have any restrictions to your movement, we recommend sleeping on the memory foam twin on the first floor Please read: The house is very much immersed in nature. Nature has bugs and animals. You may see both. There may even be an ant, fly, or non smelly stinkbug, or similar such bug in the house. I promise it won't hurt you. This time of year it’s not uncommon to have a fly or lady bug makes its way into the home when the front door is opened. Little tiny bugs can sometimes make it through the mesh on window. -While the house is very isolated and very quiet, you may hear farm equipment on occasion from the neighboring orchards (on our farm, the most you'll see is a tractor/mower). -Theres another tiny home on the property, you may bump into folks going there in the shared parking area, the house itself is still very much private and the other tiny home is completely out of view - We recently reseeded the lawn! There's a bit of hay keeping the seeds warm. Please make a note of this before you book.

Sunlit Apartment close to Beacon’s Main Street

Gaze out at views of Mount Beacon from the windows of this upper-floor apartment in a 2 family home (the hosts live downstairs). The home boasts a clean white palette interspersed with colorful handmade pottery, furniture, and artwork and a decorative rug in the living area. This quaint apartment is on the 2nd floor of our home. We are a young recently married couple who renovated this apartment ourselves, and we are excited to have guests enjoy it. The space is filled with handmade pottery, furniture and artwork created by us, and from our collection. We have a queen sized bed outfitted with a comfy Tuft and Needle mattress in the bedroom, and a couch that pulls out into a full sized bed in the living room. The space is ideal for 2, but sleeps 4. We live downstairs with our small dog, Charlie, and are accessible to answer any questions and offer recommendations on local activities, but will give you all the privacy you need. You are welcome to enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine in our comfy rocking chairs on our porch. Please know, our porch is a communal area, so you may find us out there during the nice weather doing to same! For your convenience, we have self check in with a keypad on the door. If you need to come a little earlier than check in time, or depart a little later, please let us know. When possible, we are more than happy to accommodate these requests. There is ample street parking in front of the house. We are a short drive from DIA Beacon, the Hudson River, Breakneck and Mt. Beacon, and walking distance to all the galleries, shops and restaurants Main Street has to offer. Guests can use the entire apartment, as well as our shared front porch area. This is a cozy room with private forest views and all the basic amenities (small kitchenette). We are located next to the entrance of Mount Beacon park (the free Loop Bus from the station drops you on our corner), a three-minute walk to the trail entrance, and a 25 minute walk to the train station and Main Street. The room is attached to the main house, but you have your own entrance with code access. We live in the main house, so we are here to answer questions or help with your stay.
