Home safety: Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms

Smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms save lives. That’s why we’re on a mission to get as many alarms into as many homes as possible. We strongly urge Hosts to install smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in spaces that use fuel-burning appliances, test them regularly, and make sure their listing description is up to date. Get a combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarm at no cost

Airbnb provides self-contained, battery powered, combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to eligible Hosts at no cost. Home Safety Terms and Conditions apply.

  1. Click Listings and select the listing you want to edit
  2. Under Listing editor, click Guest safety
  3. Click Safety devices
  4. Select Carbon monoxide alarm installed and Smoke alarm installed
  5. Click Save

If your place only uses electric appliances, and does not have an attached garage, you have the option to select that a carbon monoxide alarm is not necessary.

Be sure to check your local regulations, which may require that you have more than one working smoke and carbon monoxide alarm installed in your place.
